This affects every provider worldwide.
We looked at the last three months of usage in every workspace, so we can tell you in concrete numbers what this means for you.
What's changing
Service messages are your normal replies to customers within 24 hours of their last message. That's what happens when someone messages you on WhatsApp and you respond.
These were free until now. Starting in October, Meta charges a fee per message sent.
Incoming messages remain free. You're only charged for what you send.
What happens to WhatsApp templates
Nothing changes for WhatsApp templates outside the 24-hour window, and the window itself stays the same. You still need WhatsApp templates whenever more than 24 hours have passed since your customer's last message, for example for a newsletter. Those templates have always had a cost. That doesn't change.
Utility templates within the 24-hour window are also affected. These have been free since July 2025 and will be charged starting in October. Marketing templates are unchanged.
What we're doing
Instead of passing the costs on, we doubled the Superchat Bonus on most plans at our own expense, starting October 1:
Your plan | Current Superchat Bonus | New Superchat Bonus from October |
Basic | €10 / month | €20 / month |
Professional | €25 / month | €50 / month |
Advanced | €40 / month | €80 / month |
For most customers, the increased Superchat Bonus covers the new charges in full.
Where to find your own numbers
We sent all workspace admins an email with their personal cost forecast, calculated from their own usage over the last three months.
That email shows your average monthly service message volume, the estimated new Meta charges, and what remains after your Superchat Bonus is applied.
If you can't find the email, contact our support team.
How accurate are these numbers
We're using Meta's own announced pricing methodology. The new service message charges will be based on existing utility template prices. Meta publishes the final numbers on 1st September, 2026, so these are estimates until then, but they follow Meta's own announcement directly.
Once the final prices are confirmed, all admins will automatically receive another email with the definitive figures.
How to get more out of every message
The change is also a good moment to think about how you use WhatsApp. These habits improve both the customer experience and how efficiently your team works.
One consolidated reply works better for the customer than three short messages arriving in a row. Clear, complete answers close conversations faster.
The AI agent handles routine requests like opening hours or appointment status faster than a human in the flow of daily work, and it knows when a conversation is complete, so nothing gets left open unnecessarily.
Not every request needs to go through WhatsApp. Matching the channel to the topic means each WhatsApp conversation carries more weight.
