WhatsApp Coexistence allows you to use the WhatsApp Business app and the WhatsApp Business API in Superchat at the same time (with the same phone number). It should be noted, however, that you can only utilise WhatsApp Coexistence if you do not already have a WhatsApp Business API connected.

Below you will find step-by-step instructions on how to complete the setup flow.

❗ Important: To utilise WhatsApp Coexistence, your WhatsApp Business App must have reached a certain messaging volume. Unfortunately, Meta does not disclose the exact threshold required to qualify. If your account is not eligible, this will only become apparent during the Meta signup process, where an error message will indicate that coexistence is not available for your number.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the essentials

    • Your private Facebook login.

    • Make sure you have Admin access to the correct Meta Business Manager (namely, the Business manager you want to have connected with the WhatsApp account).

    • The phone associated with the WhatsApp Business account.

  2. Start the WhatsApp Setup in Superchat

Having selected the option to add a WhatsApp channel, select WhatsApp Business App and then Continue with Facebook.

  3. Log into your personal Facebook account

  4. Select your existing business account.

  5. Enter the number from your WhatsApp Business account.

You will then receive a text message on that phone. On your phone, click on ‘Connect’ and follow the resulting flow. Once you have reached the end, you will then be asked to scan a code, which is step 6.

  6. Scan the QR code with the phone associated with your WhatsApp Business account.

  7. Select the time zone and confirm that the WhatsApp Business account name is correct.

  8. Click confirmation.

You are now finished with the process!

What should I do if there is a red warning triangle next to my channel?

If you have already connected a WhatsApp channel via Coexistence and see a red warning triangle next to the number, this means the connection has been severed.

In this case, you do not need to disconnect the channel to reconnect it. Simply click “Add channel”, add the same number again, and follow the setup flow described above. The number will then be reconnected.

To help prevent this issue in the future, we recommend opening your WhatsApp Business app on your phone at least once every two weeks. If the app is not opened for an extended period, the connection may be interrupted, which is a common cause of this error.
