To use Superchat with WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook, you need a Meta Business account. Meta uses this setup to manage your business assets (like pages, ad accounts, and WhatsApp numbers) and control who has access to them.

This article walks you through creating your Meta Business account step by step — no prior Meta experience required.

What is the difference between the Business Suite and Business Portfolio?

Within your Meta Business account, Meta distinguishes between the Business Suite and the Business Portfolio, as they serve different purposes.

  • Business Suite is the dashboard you use for your day-to-day work. It’s where you manage things like posts, ads, and basic settings across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Most users spend the majority of their time here.

  • Business Portfolio, on the other hand, is the back-end structure behind the scenes. It’s used to organise and manage business assets such as ad accounts, Facebook Pages, WhatsApp numbers, and user permissions. This is where access rights are assigned and where Meta controls who can manage which assets.

In short, you use the Business Suite to do the work, while the Business Portfolio defines how everything is set up and who has access to it.

Note: When you create a Meta Business account, both are set up automatically. You don’t need to choose between them — Meta handles this in the background ❗

Before you start

In order to create your Meta Business account, make sure you first have:

  • A personal Facebook profile (required by Meta)

  • A business email address you can access

  • Admin access to the Facebook Page you want to use (if you already have one)

Note: Creating a Meta Business account does not make anything public and does not run ads or incur any costs.

How to register for Meta Business Suite

  1. Click on Create account

  2. Enter the registered name of your business, your business portfolio name and email address (don’t worry, you can change these details later if needed), then press create.

  3. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the setup. Once finished, your Meta Business account will be created, and you’ll be taken to Meta Business Suite, where you can manage it.

Helpful to know:

  • You can create your Meta Business account first and add assets or team members later.

  • Changes you make in the Meta Business Suite won’t automatically go live or affect customers unless you explicitly publish them.

  • If Meta blocks a step, it’s often due to missing permissions, security settings, or verification requirements.
