You're planning a larger campaign and don't want to manually respond to every inquiry? With Automations, you can automatically react to your recipients' responses - whether they click a button or ask a question.
Why automate campaigns?
The problem:
You send a campaign to 1,000 contacts. 200 click on a button, 50 ask follow-up questions. Without automation, your team must manually handle each individual inquiry.
The solution:
With an automation, you automatically respond to:
Quick Response clicks: Customer clicks on "Book appointment" → Automation sends Calendly link
Follow-up questions: Customer responds with a question → AI agent takes over
No reaction: Customer doesn't respond within 23h → Automation sends follow-up
This way you scale the biggest advantage of WhatsApp - two-way communication - without overwhelming your team.
Create automation directly from the campaign
The easiest way: Create the automation directly from your campaign.
Here's how:
Create a new campaign (or open a draft)
Select your WhatsApp template
Open the "Automation" section
Click on "Create automation now"
You will be automatically redirected to the Automation Builder. The trigger is already correctly configured:
Trigger: WhatsApp template sent
WhatsApp account: Your selected account
WhatsApp template: Your campaign's template
Only trigger when: "Sent via campaign" (already activated)
Build automation
From here, you build your flow. The trigger shows you a preview of your template with all buttons and quick responses.
Available paths:
Depending on the template, you have different starting points:
Quick reply clicks: For each quick reply in your template (e.g., "Speak with support")
If the contact doesn't respond within 23h: For follow-ups
If contact writes something else: For free-text responses and follow-up questions
Example flow: Template with quick reply "Speak with support"
Customer clicks "Speak with support" → AI agent takes over and answers questions
Customer writes something else → AI agent takes over
Customer doesn't respond within 23h → Send follow-up message
Important before sending
Make sure the automation is active and published before you send the campaign!
Checklist:
Automation is fully built
Automation is published (not just draft)
Automation is active (not paused)
Without an active automation, your recipients' responses will not be processed automatically.
Link automation afterwards
You've already created an automation and want to link it to a campaign?
Open your automation
Check the trigger "WhatsApp template sent"
Make sure the correct template is selected
Optional: Enable "Only trigger when: Sent via campaign"
This way, the automation will only be triggered when the template is sent via a campaign - not when you send it manually in a conversation.
