You can send conversion events to Meta's Conversion API for ads optimisation from Superchat automations. We recommend to send conversion events for automations that are triggered by a Click to WhatsApp Ad.

How to set up the Conversions Event Action

Prerequisite: Connect your channel to Meta's Conversions API.

If not already done, you need to enable the Conversions API for your WhatsApp channel.

1. Go to Settings → Inboxes → [Select a WhatsApp channel] → Click the table row

2. In the WhatsApp Channel Settings popup, you can verify if the Conversions API is enabled by looking at the Conversions API tag at the top right corner.

3. If the Conversion API is not enabled yet, click the button on the blue banner, log into your Facebook Business Account and select the WhatsApp Business Account which is connected to your WhatsApp channel.

Build an automation and add the "Send conversion events to Meta" action node

1. Create an automation with an incoming message trigger.

2. Add multiple nodes to build your customised funnel.

3. Each time you want to send a conversion event to Meta add a "Send conversion events to Meta" action node.

You can add multiple conversion event nodes.
One for each conversion event type.

How to configure your send conversion action node

1. Select the a matching event type from the dropdown. Available event types and when to use them:

2. Decide how to identify your lead / contact in Meta so that Meta can associate the conversion event with the WhatsApp and Facebook or Instagram user.

Option 1: Click to WhatsApp Ad ID

  • Available for all businesses and phone numbers outside of the EEA and the UK

  • Most precise user targeting

  • Add a fallback identification when using multiple channels in your automation that belong to supported and not-supported countries (e.g. using the same automation with a business phone number from Mexico and the UK)

Option 2: Custom lead identification

  • Available for businesses and phone numbers from any country Superchat is available in but China and Cuba

  • Less precise user targeting

  • If you are sending conversion events to Meta and operate in the EEA or UK, you need to explicitly collect consent from users to share conversion events with Meta

3. Send any additional contact data that you want to share with Meta for ads optimisation. Contact attributes which Meta requires in hashed format will be automatically hashed by Superchat before sending.
