To use Instagram Direct Messages in Superchat, your Instagram account must be set up as a Business account.
Personal and Creator accounts are not supported for the Instagram Messaging API, which is required to receive and respond to Instagram messages in Superchat.
How to check your account type
On Instagram go to your profile.
Tap the menu (☰) in the top right corner.
Search 'tools' in the search bar.
→ If your account is a Business account, you will see 'Business tools and controls' as an option to select.
→ If your account is a Personal account, you will see 'Account type and tools' as an option.
How to make your Personal Instagram account a Business account
Select the menu (☰) in the top right corner.
Search 'Account type and tools' and select it.
Select Switch to professional account and follow the ensuing flow.
When prompted, select Business (not Creator) when selecting what type of professional you are.
Complete the ensuing flow with all relevant information.
