An API key is a unique code used to authenticate and authorise requests between two applications. It acts like a password that allows one system (for example Zapier or another integration) to securely access certain data or features of another system, such as your Superchat account.
If you utilise integrations as part of your Superchat workflows, you will need to access an API Key. In order to access an API key, it should also be noted that you need:
Integrations add-on as part of your Superchat plan
Admin access in Superchat
Instructions
For the purpose of this example, we will be connecting Superchat with Zapier, although the flow is mostly identical with any integration. You are usually prompted to enter an API Key when setting up your first Superchat node within an automation.
In Zapier, when creating a Zap, we can add a Superchat node and then, during the Setup stage of the node, click Add (or Change) under Account and then + Connect a new account.
You will then be forwarded to a page and prompted to enter an API Key. We don't have this yet, but this is where we will paste it once we have it.
Now, jumping over to Superchat, select Settings → Integrations → Explore integrations → Zapier 'Add'
Then click on Create.
Then, we just need to copy the API Key (the big long code).
Then simply paste it into the previous page we were forwarded to in Zapier and press Continue to Superchat.
After that, the connection should be completed and you will be able to see your Superchat account in the accounts listed in the node in Zapier.
I can't find the integration I want to use in Superchat
Many integrations supported by Superchat have their own dedicated setup within the Explore Integrations section, however, if the platform you want to connect is not listed, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and create a general API key instead.
This API key allows you to build custom integrations with Superchat and is often used for more advanced or flexible setups.
