Troubleshooting Push Notifications

This guide will show you how to clear the cache and reset permissions for Superchat in the most common browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Safari) to ensure you can receive our notifications without any issues.

Google Chrome

Follow these steps to clear the cache and reset push notification permissions in Google Chrome:

  1. Show Site Information: Click the icon as shown in the screenshot to the left of our page's web address in the address bar.

  2. Reset Notification Permission: Under "Permissions," then select "Reset."
    ​

  3. Open Developer Tools: Press the F12 key (on Windows) or fn + F12 (on a Mac) to open the Developer Tools.

  4. Clear Storage: In the Developer Tools, click on the "Application" tab. In the left sidebar, select "Storage." Then, click the "Clear site data" button.
    ​

  5. Reload Page: Chrome will prompt you to reload the page. Click "Reload" or press Ctrl + R (Windows) or Cmd + R (Mac).
    ​

🚀 Done! Go back to the 'Notifications' tab, save your notification settings again, and accept the permission. Then, reload the page.

Mozilla Firefox

Here's how to reset the cache and push notification permissions in Firefox:

  1. Show Site Information: Click the icon to the left of Superchat's web address in the address bar.
    ​

  2. Remove Notification Permission: Under "Permissions," find "Receive Notifications." Click the "X" next to "Allowed" to remove the permission.
    ​

  3. Clear Cookies and Site Data: Click the lock icon further to the left, then click "Clear Cookies and Site Data...".
    ​

  4. Confirm: A small window will open. Click "Remove" there to clear the cookies and site data.
    ​

🚀 Done! Go back to the 'Notifications' tab, save your notification settings again, and accept the permission. Then, reload the page.

Safari (macOS)

Apple does not support Web Push for Safari on Windows.

  1. Open Safari Settings: In the top menu bar, click "Safari" and then select "Settings".
    ​

  2. Select Websites: In the settings window, click the "Websites" tab.
    ​

  3. Manage Notifications: In the left sidebar, select "Notifications".
    ​

  4. Select and Remove Website: In the list on the right, find our website. Select it and then click the "Remove" button.
    ​

  5. Select Privacy: Now, in the settings window, click the "Privacy" tab.
    ​

  6. Manage Website Data: Click the "Manage Website Data..." button.
    ​

  7. Find and Remove Website: In the list, search for "Superchat". Select and click "Remove All".
    ​

  8. Finish: Click "Done" to close the window.

🚀 Done! Go back to the 'Notifications' tab, save your notification settings again, and accept the permission. Then, reload the page.

Microsoft Edge

Follow these steps to clear the cache and reset push notification permissions in Microsoft Edge:

  1. Show Site Information: Click the lock icon to the left of Superchat's web address in the address bar.
    ​

  2. Reset Permissions: In the dropdown menu, click on "Permissions for this site". Then, click the "Reset permissions" button.
    ​

  3. Go to Cookies and site permissions: In the left sidebar of the Settings page, click on "Cookies and site permissions". Then click on "Remove all cookies".
    ​

  4. Confirm Removal: A confirmation dialog will appear. Click "Clear" to confirm.
    ​

🚀 Done! Go back to the 'Notifications' tab, save your notification settings again, and accept the permission. Then, reload the page.
