Understanding the Contact Import Analysis
Learn when contacts are Updated, Ignored, Created, or Considered Faulty during uploads.
Here's an overview:
Created ✅ :
A new contact is created when the information provided in the contact list doesn't match existing information in Superchat.
Ignored 🥸 :
A contact is ignored if there has been a prior conversation with the contact and relevant information for the conversation has been modified in the newly uploaded contact list. For example, if a phone number in an existing WhatsApp conversation has changed. If the contact is only in a WhatsApp conversation and the email address is modified in the uploaded contact list, the contact will be updated.
Furthermore, contact imports are ignored if different contact attributes (email, phone number) belonging to different contacts are listed in the same row. This ambiguity makes it unclear which contact should be updated. Another scenario in which contact import is disregarded is when an email needs to be changed, but there's an existing email conversation with this contact.
The same applies to phone numbers. If existing WhatsApp conversations have taken place with a customer and the same contact is provided with a different number in the contact import, this import will also be ignored.
Updated ✔️ :
A contact is updated when the information provided in the contact directory matches existing information in Superchat, even if a conversation has already occurred with the contact. So, if the same contact is uploaded twice in a contact upload, the contact is created once and then updated once.
Faulty ❌ :
A contact is considered "faulty" if the format of the contact information cannot be parsed by our software.
